Built in 1928, this Tudor home exudes timeless charm and character. The homeowners envisioned a thoughtful update to the entry, living room, and dining room, drawing inspiration from the enchanting interiors of the 1998 film Practical Magic, based on Alice Hoffman’s 1995 novel.

The goal was to create a traditional, collected, and inviting home that feels comfortably lived-in without veering into “grandmotherly” territory. An earthy palette of warm browns, sage greens, and rich rust tones sets the foundation, while whimsical mural wallpaper and Victorian-inspired furnishings bring depth and personality to the spaces. Layered with distinctive artwork, atmospheric lighting, and carefully curated accessories, the result is a warm, character-filled interior that feels both nostalgic and fresh.

Your Questions, Answered

Find quick answers to the most common questions about our services and process.
What services does Talie Jane Interiors offer?

Talie Jane delivers award-winning, full-service interior design with a thoughtful approach to every detail, from custom cabinetry and window treatments to beautifully organized closet systems.
We also offer seamless general contracting through Talie Jane Construction and invite you to explore our 2,300 sq ft luxury furniture showroom, featuring a curated collection of our favorite vendors.

What areas do you serve?

We’re based on the southeast shore of Lake Tahoe, with our office in Stateline, NV. We proudly serve the entire Lake Tahoe region — including Reno, Carson City, Truckee — and beyond into Napa and Sonoma County.

When is the best time to hire an interior designer?

The earlier, the better! Ideally, bring us in during initial planning or even before starting a renovation/build. That way, we can collaborate with architects and builders, save you from costly redesigns, and ensure cohesive, efficient results.

What is the difference between an interior designer and an interior decorator?

A decorator focuses on styling—furniture, accessories, finishes. In contrast, an interior designer combines aesthetics with technical and structural knowledge: space planning, materials, building codes, and CAD drawings. Designers shape your space; decorators style it.

How is billing and pricing handled?

We take a different approach than traditional interior designers. Rather than marking up the cost of goods for added commission, we prioritize transparency by passing our trade discounts directly to our clients, often resulting in savings that exceed the cost of our design services.
