Post-Covid life trends are shifting but what does this mean? In short, increasingly people are moving away from the city to regional/rural areas, many are now working from home permanently.  This has caused a desire to get back to nature, reduce stress level and encourage a positive mindset. This shift has affected interior design; we are seeing a shift away from the “show-home” style in favor of a less-manufactured aesthetic. 2023 will be all about increasing convenience, comfort, and personal style. Check out some of our favorite interior design predictions for next year. What’s In? Throwbacks The return or Art Deco – Try curved furniture pieces and dome-style lamps, curved arches, geometric designs in lighting and wallpaper. Continuing the love for Mid Century Modern – Use period piece furnishings or accessories to blend the design of the existing space with new taste preferences. Incorporating Vintage / Victorian styles – Incorporate vintage pieces or newly constructed pieces, with the shapes and elements of period pieces. Let There Be Light! ​Lighting is arguably the most important element in interior design. It is an essential ingredient and not an afterthought as many consider it to be. If you’re tempted to spend more time picking out furnishings or puzzling over layouts, remember that lighting can completely transform a space – not just by brightening dark corners, but by affecting your emotions. (1) ​Lighting creates mood and sets tone. It can affect the perceived size of a room, add dimension, draw attention and create depth and balance. In order to achieve the true power of lighting, designers consider lighting placement, amongst a myriad of other things.
