The living room at The Back Road was designed as the central gathering place for everyday life and entertaining. Talie Jane Interiors prioritized both comfort and visual impact, selecting a warm, inviting palette paired with rich textures and layered lighting. The spatial layout promotes ease of movement and creates natural focal points, such as thoughtfully placed seating groupings and curated decor elements. Architectural details were highlighted through material contrasts and strategically chosen furnishings that feel both elevated and approachable, making the living room feel welcoming without sacrificing refinement.

In the kitchen, the design team balanced practicality with refined aesthetics. Attention was placed on optimizing workflow, enhancing storage solutions, and selecting finishes that maintain a sophisticated yet timeless look. Custom cabinetry with quality hardware, integrated appliances, and coordinated surface materials give the kitchen a cohesive and polished presence. The color palette and material selections were chosen to harmonize with the adjacent living spaces, ensuring that the kitchen contributes to the home’s overall design narrative while catering to everyday culinary needs.

The bar area at The Back Road was conceived as an extension of the living and kitchen spaces, thoughtfully blending social function with style. Talie Jane Interiors introduced design elements that enhance both utility and ambiance, with tailored cabinetry, sophisticated finishes, and complementary lighting to elevate the space. The layout accommodates beverage preparation and serving while maintaining visual continuity with nearby spaces, making the bar both a practical asset for entertaining and a seamless part of the home’s interior design.

What areas do you serve?

We’re based on the southeast shore of Lake Tahoe, with our office in Stateline, NV. We proudly serve the entire Lake Tahoe region — including Reno, Carson City, Truckee — and beyond into Napa and Sonoma County.

When is the best time to hire an interior designer?

The earlier, the better! Ideally, bring us in during initial planning or even before starting a renovation/build. That way, we can collaborate with architects and builders, save you from costly redesigns, and ensure cohesive, efficient results.

What is the difference between an interior designer and an interior decorator?

A decorator focuses on styling—furniture, accessories, finishes. In contrast, an interior designer combines aesthetics with technical and structural knowledge: space planning, materials, building codes, and CAD drawings. Designers shape your space; decorators style it.

How is billing and pricing handled?

We take a different approach than traditional interior designers. Rather than marking up the cost of goods for added commission, we prioritize transparency by passing our trade discounts directly to our clients, often resulting in savings that exceed the cost of our design services.
