At the heart of the Winding Way project was a desire to create a home environment that blends comfort with sophistication. Talie Jane Interiors worked collaboratively with the homeowner to refine the design direction, prioritizing a palette that feels warm yet contemporary and a plan that enhances everyday living. The result is an interior that speaks to thoughtful layering of textures, balanced proportions, and a unified narrative across all living spaces.

The design team approached each zone in the home as a distinct yet interconnected space, preserving visual continuity while giving each room its own character. Strategic use of natural light, custom wood tones, and elevated linens and textiles contribute to a sense of calm and restraint throughout the residence.

The kitchen at Winding Way was designed to be both the functional core of daily activity and a visually engaging space. The team prioritized an intuitive layout that supports meal preparation and social interaction. Custom cabinetry offers tailored storage solutions while maintaining clean lines that contribute to a refined aesthetic. Thoughtful choices in countertops, hardware, and lighting fixtures reflect a balance of durability and style that aligns with the overall design ethos of the home.

To create an inviting yet practical kitchen environment, materials with visual warmth and tactile depth were selected. These finish selections, combined with integrated appliances and purposeful lighting, help ensure the space operates seamlessly for both routine use and entertaining guests.

Beyond the foundational elements, the Winding Way kitchen incorporates thoughtful design solutions that reflect the homeowner’s lifestyle. Custom millwork around key zones maximizes storage while preserving a streamlined appearance. Functional elements such as deep drawers, organized pantry zones, and under-cabinet lighting were incorporated to improve usability throughout the space.

Styling choices for surface finishes and accessories were curated to complement the broader interior palette, creating a cohesive transition between the kitchen and adjacent living areas. By layering materials with subtle contrast and incorporating fixture details that elevate the overall design, Talie Jane Interiors struck a balance between practical performance and refined interiors that feel both purposeful and polished.

We’re based on the southeast shore of Lake Tahoe, with our office in Stateline, NV. We proudly serve the entire Lake Tahoe region — including Reno, Carson City, Truckee — and beyond into Napa and Sonoma County.

When is the best time to hire an interior designer?

The earlier, the better! Ideally, bring us in during initial planning or even before starting a renovation/build. That way, we can collaborate with architects and builders, save you from costly redesigns, and ensure cohesive, efficient results.

What is the difference between an interior designer and an interior decorator?

A decorator focuses on styling—furniture, accessories, finishes. In contrast, an interior designer combines aesthetics with technical and structural knowledge: space planning, materials, building codes, and CAD drawings. Designers shape your space; decorators style it.

How is billing and pricing handled?

We take a different approach than traditional interior designers. Rather than marking up the cost of goods for added commission, we prioritize transparency by passing our trade discounts directly to our clients, often resulting in savings that exceed the cost of our design services.
